Vancouver Harpist 1
This Vancouver Harpist is redefining what the harp can do. Known for pushing stylistic boundaries, her performances go beyond the traditional and challenge the notion that harp music is only gentle or serene.
Vancouver Harpist roots
Drawing upon her classical roots, this Vancouver Harpist also immersed herself in the ancient modalities of the Scottish and Irish harp traditions, training in Scotland (RSAMD), Ireland (University of Limerick), and Cape Breton (Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts) to weave three strands from the Celtic traditions into a unique new soundscape.
Vancouver Harpist credits
With recognition from The Canada Council for the Arts, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, CBC, Pioneer Black Creek Village, the Canadian College of Armed Forces, Sabhal Mor Ostaig in the Isle of Skye, and Vancouver Television, this Vancouver Harpist has also performed for the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Vancouver Municipal City Hall, Vancouver Opera, Pandora’s Vox, the Glasgow Gaelic Choir, Emily Smith (The Emily Smith Band), and Lori Pappajohn of Winter Harps.
She has twice been awarded the gold medal for the Advanced Harp competition at Vancouver Mod, and has released her debut recording to enthusiastic acclaim. Other studio work of this Vancouver Harpist has included accompaniment for Justine Bliq, flautist, and harp arrangements and performances contributed to the Christmas CD A Saviour is Born (Peter Mason).
