New York City Caribbean Band 1

This New York City Caribbean Band was conceived, nearly 10 years ago by the band leader and director. The concept of the band is to play authentic traditional Caribbean pan music originating from Trinidad and Tobago, an island nation as diverse in its culture and history as it is in its music.

Even though many people associate Steel drums with Reggae music, Reggae is from Jamaica and has very little connection with the "Pan" music from Trinidad and Tobago.

New York City Caribbean Band repertoire

The band's repertoire reflects their commitment to the folkloric forms of Caribbean music, Calypso and Soca. This New York City Caribbean Band also performs music from Jamaica, West Africa, Cuba and the USA using a variety of traditional Caribbean instruments (Conga, Timbales, Djembe, Cajon) to the more common western instrumentation, such as Guitar, Keyboards and Bass.

… They played music continuously throughout the entire event, I had to tell them to take a break and enjoy some food. People danced and the sound level of their music provided just enough background for our beach party…. Robert A. Cornog, East Hampton, NY
