New York Celtic Group 1

This New York Celtic Group made its debut on QVC-TV for 4-5 million folks. One of its song hit No. 1 in the World Billboard Charts (May, 2009). They recently toured Albany with a virtual sell out of nearly 1000 tickets for the Egg Performing Arts Center and Chautauqua Amphitheatre’s 2600 participants responded with a resounding standing ovation.

The leader of this New York Celtic Group began her musical studies at age six. Positively influenced by parents who played classical piano and guitar, her imagination was captivated by the piano early in life. Her first two CDs featured an impressive line-up: Alex Acuna (Weather Report, Joni Mitchell), Steve Kujala and Paul McCandless which received international distribution and acclaim with the Access Label in San Francisco.

With six CD recordings to her credit, the most recent received rave reviews from several publishers including “CD Reviews” and “Folkmagazine” in Germany. Her performances on double Bowed Psaltery are of the highest technical caliber and her passion to bring the Bowed Psaltery to the public eye through educational workshops and performance remains unmatched on the Celtic stage.

The leader of this New York Celtic Group's vocals are also a big part of her signature sound. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York under the direction of famed composer John Rutter, WESAK festivals in California, Government House in Brisbane, Australia and as guest artist for Pete Seeger’s reception in New York City. Commissioned to co-compose a musical in Australia, she also performed live on national ABC. (Australian Broadcast Radio).

Combining Classical and Celtic genres, the leader of this New York Celtic Group's passion to keep Irish and Celtic Arts alive are relevant in her workshops taught at various colleges and schools throughout the greater New York area. Her third album was made possible by a grant received from the Arts Alliance of Ventura County. The Los Angeles Times describes her third CD as "a sound at once fresh and other-worldly... her distinct calling card is her skill with the relatively obscure bowed psaltery and her voice is a warm and pleasant instrument."

    The girls gave a marvelous and not to be forgotten performance at the original Chautauqua a while back. We are all here awaiting their return!
