Global Heat
Imagine fresh Neo-Soul/Hip-Hop music spiced with high-energy break dance and you have the recipe for Global Heat's engaging show. Performing arts Presenters have called Global Heat's show "a riveting performance" and "a wonderful cultural event – bridging the gaps between generations, color, culture", with music that is "mystical, magical, majestic and with a message".
Bringing contemporary live music together with urban street dance, Global Heat features international MC/b-boy/DJ Justin Murta and collaborating dancers from Dog Pound and the world-champion break dance crew Massive Monkees.
Global Heat members
Based in the Northwest USA, band members have performed in more than 30 countries worldwide, including tours to Japan, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, China, and Vietnam. Global Heat has brought the new sound of Seattle around the world, from the Shanghai (China) International Music Festival, to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show, to some of the Northwest’s biggest festivals and concert theatres. They won the 2011 Jammin’ Challenge produced by Seattle Wave Radio and Hard Rock Cafe, and has received awards from Seattle Next50, 4Culture, and Theatre Puget Sound.
As MC, b-boy, and DJ, Justin Murta has worked with Usher and Chris Brown; and shared the stage with Cee Lo Green (The Voice), Macklemore, Method Man, Crash Test Dummies, Blake Lewis, members of Wu Tang, Living Legends, KRS 1, Lady Leishurr, and many others. He has been featured on: NBC’s “HipHop Nation”(USA), MTV 2 (USA) and MTV (Asia), Today TV/SNTV (Asia), Saigon Channel (Vietnam), Fox’s ITVNW (USA), and other TV shows, and has headlined events with audiences up to 100,000.
Global Heat workshop
In addition to performances, participatory workshops are available in: 1) Hip Hop Music and or Break Dancing, and 2) African Rhythm and Drumming, and 3) Latin Rhythm and Drumming. Global Heat also offers lecture/demos on the Roots of Hip Hop Music and Dance.
