Greenville Irish Band 1
This Greenville Irish Band is a traditional Irish band based in South Carolina. The band was formed out of a passion for the Irish culture, and after a four year process of growth and evolution, it is now poised to create a lasting impact on the Celtic community.
Greenville Irish Band essence
The band’s name is taken from that of an old, Irish fairy fort, meaning “Fort of Music”, referencing the Irish fairy forts, which legends say, are the entrances to the fairy world and the places where the fairies themselves hold their revelries. It is said that on certain evenings you can see the lights and hear the fairy music playing late into the wee hours as they dance and drink.
Greenville Irish Band members
Gabrielle, one of the members of this Greenville Irish Band, graduated from Converse College, in Spartanburg, SC, in 2002 and while in attendance there, she majored in music and was classically trained in voice. In 2005, she found her true love and passion for Irish music when she briefly performed with a self-founded acoustic group that played in the Irish genre. Over all, she has over 20 years of solo singing on her musical resume along with just as many years in flute performance. When she sings, you can feel the heartfelt emotion she portrays in the music through her mesmerizing and angelically smooth voice, large vocal range and shining presence.
Charles, the second member of this Greenville Irish Band, at the age of 14, was introduced to the guitar. After learning the basic chords and a little flat picking, he was then introduced to Irish and Bluegrass music. Over the next 10 years, Kaplan has fused the two genres of Bluegrass and Irish folk to deliver a profound style.
Cody, the third member of this Greenville Irish Band, having always had a passion for music, he got into singing very early on. By age 12 he had already performed on multiple stages as a vocalist. As his voice matured, he also began teaching himself to play guitar wherein he developed a great love for Celtic Folk music which has been a passion of his for the many years since. Having moved into the area of Greenville, SC in May of 2012, Cody lends a classic "Irish Tenor" voice and a skill for "on the fly" harmony to this Greenville Irish Band that is both unique and masterly.
