Dave Ziffer

Dave Ziffer has been playing guitar since the age of 15, when he split the cost of a $36 Montgomery Ward mail-order acoustic with his sister (13), who ended up seeing a lot less of it than he did. Since then he’s played in a number of bands with names like Oblivion (hard rock in the early 70s) and Crosswinds (Top 40 pop in the early 80s).

Dave Ziffer studies

During the 1990s Dave Ziffer studied jazz guitar at Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle, Illinois, where the jazz department was rated in the top ten percent of all U.S. jazz study programs in a 1992 Jazz Times survey. His obsession with modern jazz, fusion and progressive-rock plays a large part in determining his repertoire.

Dave Ziffer repertoire

This artist plays tunes by Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Lyle Mays, Russ Freeman, and many other popular modern jazz performers. Dave Ziffer also creates new interpretations of jazz standards, classical music, and surprisingly rich versions of familiar pop tunes.
