Ann Mitchell

Ann Mitchell specializes in the rich vocals of the timeless classics that span the Jazz era from the 1930’s-1950 with unbeatable energy and heart. Her extensive list of appearances have included Corning Wine and Jazz Festival, New York State Fair in Syracuse, Rochester Strong Museum’s Making American Music series, Canandaigua Waterfront festival, News 10 NBC – Today Show, Rochester, NY and Rochester’s Warm 101 Fm – Tony and Dee in the Morning.

Ann Mitchell studies

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Ann Mitchell began singing as a freelance vocalist at the age of 16, studying voice under Rita Lowe and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre from SUNY Brockport. After a successful run in a series of stage performances, this Rochester Jazz Singer found her niche in jazz performance as the vocalist for the former big band, Brass Menagerie and later as the lead vocalist for Bob Ames & Co.

Currently, Ann Mitchell performs with her own prominent jazz act, featuring a rotating ensemble of equally-esteemed musicians including Paul Gaspar, Andy Calabrese, Dave Arenius, Tom Cometa, John Nyerges and David Spinner, among others.

Ann Mitchell influences

Ann Mitchell's creative passion has been influenced by the many memorable women vocalists such as Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Patti Page, Doris Day and more. In any occasion she continues to pass on that legacy that has been left by these amazing women through her performances.
