New York Latin Band 3

This New York Latin Band is inspired by Alma Latina, the Cuban trio acclaimed for its versatility as much as its sound and swing. Alma Latina performed all over Cuba and traveled to Germany, Belgium, Holland, Costa Rica, Panama and many other countries spreading the true sound of Cuban music throughout the world.

Just as Alma Latina did in Cuba, this band performs dynamic arrangements which utilize the full musical capabilities of its members, many of whom play various instruments within the same band. Though steeped in the tradition of the immortal Cuban son, this New York Latin Band have successfully adapted and integrated many diverse styles of Latin American music into its repertoire to please all types of audiences.

From South American cumbias to merengue, rumba-guaguanco and classical chamber music, this conjunto is truly greater than the mere sum of its parts.

New York Latin Band credits

They have performed at many venues throughout the New York area. This New York Latin Band created a sizeable following of several hundred dancers and music enthusiasts during its year-long residence at White Rabbit in New York’s East Village and has been featured in the New York Daily News, on Univision’s morning variety show Despierta America, the newscast Unvision Noticias, and WBAI’s New World Gallery radio program hosted by Chico Alvarez.

During warmer months, they can be found swinging al fresco at summer music festivals and cultural events at New York City parks. In addition to performing as a popular dance band at clubs and private functions, this New York Latin Band also produces an entertaining and informative lecture-concert series, which explores the origins and continuing development of the Cuban son in classical and popular forms.
