San Francisco Latin Band 8

This San Francisco Latin Band was originally formed in Stockton, California. From 1961 to 1967, they performed under the representation of Enrique Olivarez, the group’s lead vocalist. Between 1967 and 1977, leadership shifted to saxophonist Rene Orneles. In 1977, the band relocated its home base to Sacramento, California.

At that time, two of the members formed a partnership to continue managing and developing this San Francisco Latin Band. Under their leadership, they have come to be recognized as one of the top Latin Music acts regionally and internationally. In the late 1980's the partners formed a record label which released five of the band's CDs. Over the years the group has worked with many talented songwriters, musicians, vocalists and arrangers all contributing to "Nuestra Historia".

San Francisco Latin Band credits

The band has won countless music awards and honors, and in 2001 was inducted into the Sammies Music Hall of Fame, Sacramento's premier annual regional music awards event. In 1990, they were invited by the Department of Defense to tour and entertain the armed forces overseas. Most recently this San Francisco Latin Band toured the Moral Welfare and Recreation (MWR) division of the Armed Forces.
