Mariachi Mujer 2000

Mariachi Mujer 2000 demonstrates that women in mariachi music can successfully arrange and perform some of the most challenging mariachi selections.

Mariachi Mujer 2000 is comprised of well recognized and experienced mariachi musicians. The director is an experienced and accomplished musician and producer. Her love and passion for music has given her the strength and ability to establish a new promising show group and in addition, has lead the group to great accomplishments and admirable success.

She also has earned international recognition as a female pioneer in the history of mariachi and was inducted to Tucson’s Mariachi Festival’s Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2005 Mariachi Mujer 2000 performed for the California Museum for History celebrating “Women In the Arts” where the musical director was chosen to be one of the women recognized along with Maria Shriver and special guest Governor Schwarzenegger.

Mariachi Mujer 2000 has played with some of the greatest mariachi artists in the world such as Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Mariachi Mexico de Pepe Villa, Mariachi America de Jesus Rodriguez de Hijar, Mariachi Cobre, Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano and many more. They have also performed with some of Mexico's most celebrated performers. They have played with Vicki Carr, Jose Feliciano, Trio Los Panchos, Chelo, Antonio Aguilar Jr., Pablo Montero, Gerardito Fernandez, Juan Valentin. and the Reyna of Mariachi, Aida Cuevas, who is now officially this group’s godmother.

Mariachi Mujer 2000 performed with some of the greatest artists in salsa and latin jazz music such as Eddie Palmieri and the Tito Puente All-Star Orchestra. They shared the stage with with El Gran Combo, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Fania All-Stars, Poncho Sanchez and had the opportunity to work along side with producer Ralph Mercado. They broke barriers once again in 2006 by joining together with popular rap artist Lil Rob and sharing the stage for a couple of power house performances featuring some of the legends in rap history. In 2007, they were invited to Oprah Winfrey’s home in Santa Barbara, CA to perform for the Barak Obama fundraiser, Obama who was running for the presidential elections.

The members of Mariachi Mujer 2000 are highly skilled vocalists and instrumentalists who have been personally selected from across the nation. The groups' educational background ranges from currently enrolled university students to educators who hold bachelor degrees and multiple educational credentials. In addition to mariachi music performance many of the members of Mariachi Mujer 2000 also perform other musical genres including classical, jazz, latin jazz, pop, country and salsa.

They performed to an international audience in Guadalajara, Mexico. In September of 2004, the group was invited for the 11th Annual Encuentro Internacional de Mariachi y Charreria, playing at the prestigious Teatro Degollado. They did not only receive a full house standing ovation, but more importantly received a personal congratulations from the legendary Maestro Ruben Fuentes, phenomenal arranger and owner of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. With the advent of the new millennium, Mariachi Mujer 2000 is continuing to set new standards in Mariachi music.
