Omaha Harpist 1
This Omaha Harpist currently serves as the principal harpist of the Lincoln Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic and Sioux City Symphony and is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated cum laude from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Alice Chalifoux and Yolanda Kondonassis, and received her Master of Music degree from Rice University as a student of Paula Page. She returned to Omaha in 2000 to teach harp in the Omaha Public Schools, where she oversaw 35 students and introduced numerous other elementary age children to the instrument.
Omaha Harpist grant
In 2001, this Omaha Harpist received a Fulbright grant to study contemporary harp performance practices in Australia, where she studied with Alice Giles at the Australian National University in Canberra as a candidate for a Graduate Diploma in Music. After returning to the United States, she resumed her teaching positions at the Universities of Nebraska in Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney.
Performance highlights include concertos with the Omaha Symphony, Lincoln Symphony, Houston Chamber Players, Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, Minot Symphony and the University of Nebraska-Omaha Chamber Orchestra. In addition to her solo appearances, this Omaha Harpist has appeared as guest harpist with the St. Louis Symphony, Omaha Symphony, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Fort Wayne Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, and Gettysburg Symphony. She has been an active chamber musician with such groups as the Omaha Chamber Music Society, Third Chair Chamber Players, Music in the Mountains concert series, and Analog Arts Ensemble.
Omaha Harpist volunteer
She has remained an active volunteer for many local area non-profits, serving on the boards of the Great Plains Harp Chapter, Omaha Chamber Music Society and Third Chair Chamber Players. This Omaha Harpist continues to teach harp at the university level, giving master classes nationwide, and maintaining a private studio in Omaha.
