Hartford Harpist 2

This Hartford Harpist began the study of the harp at the age of eight with the late Dr. Aristid von Wurtzler at the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford. Her first public performance was at the age of 9 on Channel 3 in Hartford as a member of the Hartt College Harp Ensemble and as a soloist.

Hartford Harpist awards

She was a four-time winner at the Festival of Irish Culture in the Bronx, NY, from 1969-1972. She was awarded first place in the Junior Division competition of the American Harp Society in 1969 in Rochester, NY and was the youngest participant in the 9th International Harp Competition held in Geneva, Switzerland in 1974 at the age of 16. In 1975, this Hartford Harpist was awarded a full scholarship to study with Eileen Malone at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.

Hartford Harpist performances

For over 25 years, she has been performing extensively throughout New England, including appearances with the Hartford, Manchester, and Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestras. For the last 14 years, she has played professionally with the University of Connecticut Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, including a performance in November 2004 at Carnegie Hall. This Hartford Harpist is currently principal harpist with the New Britain Symphony Orchestra and teaching privately.
